Things To Consider Before Buying Laptop

Consider The Size Of Your Laptop

How often are you likely to be carrying your laptop? Are you after a notebook to play games and run graphics-intensive programs like photo editing software? Generally speaking, laptops with more features are less portable.

Lightweight and ultra-portable notebooks are a great option for people like students who need to carry them everywhere, as they range from under 2kg up to 4kg
Midsize and desktop-replacement laptops offer more features and are better suited to gaming and graphics-intensive programs like video and photo editing. They range from around 3kg to 5kg

Brain Speed – The Faster, The Better

Processors are often referred to as the "brains" of a laptop because they determine how fast your computer functions. The speed of the processor is measured in GHz (gigahertz). It's always safest to go with the fastest you can afford.

The Grunt

RAM (Random Access Memory) helps your processor perform tasks by acting as a temporary storage point.

In short, the more RAM you have, the more programs you can keep open at once, and the faster your computer will go
Our laptops range between 2GB and 16GB of RAM
A graphics (or video) card acts as a separate processor for rendering the images on the screen
Graphics cards draw on their own RAM, so the computer's performance is not impeded
This is important for graphics-intensive programs, such as games and movies.

THE HARD DRIVE
The hard drive is where your computer stores your files. Storage capacity is measured in gigabytes (GB)

The more GB, the more files you can fit. If you want to store large files like high-quality photos, movies or music you should aim for a range between 500GB and 3TB
A laptop used solely for Internet, email and minimal image storage should get away with 250GB or less

How Long Does The Battery Last?

Typical laptop battery life is between three to five hours. If you're travelling and away from a power source for extended periods of time, then consider laptop computers with a battery life of over five hours.

Connecting Your Laptop To Other Devices

Consider the devices that you want to connect your laptop to. Multiple USB ports are necessities for iPods, digital cameras and external hard drives; also look for FireWire ports.

For connecting to monitors and projectors, look for a VGA connection at minimum. Aim for a DVI, HDMI or DisplayPort as well
Integrated wireless networking (Wi-Fi) will allow you to connect to a range of different networks without needing any wires or cords

Consider These "Usability" Factors

Laptops usually come with a pointing stick or a touch pad instead of a mouse. Make sure that you're comfortable using them
Also check that the layout and size of the keyboard is easy to use, and that the screen size suits your needs
If you're planning on working outside, check that there is a matte screen option to reduce glare

If you are switching from PC to Apple, or vice versa, it's important to note that Apple products have different shortcuts and a different look and feel to using them. However, making the switch either way is quite easy.

Match Your Lifestyle

Home and Business: Surf the net, work on multiple documents, watch movies, and manage your family photos and music.

Size: Look for a portable laptop under 4kg
Memory: Aim for the most memory you can, upwards of 250GB
Connectivity: Multiple USB ports, Wi-Fi, Firewire and a DVI or HDMI

Students and Travellers: Store your photos, music and videos, surf the Net and work on graphics-intensive programs, like photo editing.

Size: Choose an ultra-portable notebook under 2kg
Grunt: Look for a processor of at least 2GHz and 2GB RAM
Screen: Look for a matte screen to reduce glare when outdoors

Gamers: You'll need a fast, powerful machine to play your favourite games wherever you are in the world.

Size: Choose a larger screen, like a 15.6-inch one
Graphics: Add a separate graphics card with at least 1GB RAM
Connectivity: HDMI, multiple USB, eSATA, Wi-Fi and Bl

Why Men Are Helplessly Attracted To Ladies With Bigger Butts – Study

Men who are attracted to women with big butts perhaps do so for a reward of pleasurable sex. But there is more to big butts than meets the eye.

Scientists from the University of Oxford have said that women who have more than average backsides often have a higher level of intelligence. The researchers even went as far as saying that children born to women with wider hips are more intelligent than the children of slimmer, less curvy mothers.

Beyond that, they claim the lower body fat lowers cholesterol levels and produce sugar metabolising hormones that help to ward off diabetes and heart problems in women with bigger butts, compared to those with slimmer butts.

According to them, women with such big butts produce more Omega 3 fats, which catalyse brain development.

A suicide bomber who rammed into a military check point in Bajoga, Gombe State yesterday, failed to achieve his mission. His attempt to escape also failed as he was brought down by vigilant soldiers when he tried to flee after hitting a military Amoured Personnel Carrier with his IED laden Honda car. The explosives which failed to detonate have been evacuated and handed to the police.

Also in Kano, security forces have raided the terrorists’ hideout in Nasarawa Local Government Area leading to the arrest of bomb making experts who are already helping in the investigation into activities of bombers lately. Officers believe that the efforts will yield useful clues.
Troops deployed in all locations of the counter terrorism campaign have been directed to sustain the tempo of operations all through the period of seasonal celebrations and ensure that the intention of terrorists to attack civilian target while avoiding troops is duly frustrated.

13 year old Christmas Eve female bomber attempt foiled

The Kano state Police command today Dec. 24th arrested a 13 year old girl identified as Zahra'u Babban Gida who was found with explosives strapped on her body opposite the Kantin-Kwari textile market, same place where two female suicide bombers detonated bombs two weeks ago killing many.

The Kano State Commissioner of Police Alhaji Tashid Aderile Shinaba said she was arrested by police officers who found her moves suspicious. When interrogated, the young girl said her father was the one who took her to the people who strapped her with the bombs.

According to her, the unknown men told her she had to carry out the suicide attack in order to make heaven. She said the men told her they would kill her if she doesn't follow through with the bomb attack. The Kano state government however said that the young girl was not one of the missing Chibok girls.

15 Born Again Christians Return WAEC Certificates Earned Via Cheating

At least 15 people have recently returned certificates issued to them by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). They explained this action by the fact they were cheating during the examination, and now as Born Again Christians, they could not live with “the sin.” According to Saturday Sun, some of the people had approached WAEC through letters seeking restitution, after they had confessed how they dubiously acquired their certificates, when they wrote the examinations at various periods. WAEC replied, stating that what they were expected to do was to return the certificates awarded in line with the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of the examinations. However, only few responded, including a holder of Teachers’ Grade 11 certificate. It has been revealed that those who complied with the directive returned their certificates to various WAEC offices nationwide. The council took their case to the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC), which has cancelled the returned 15 certificates at its 55th meeting in Lagos. “The listed candidates, in their letters of restitution, confessed that they were involved in various forms of examination malpractices in various years as indicated against their numbers. They have returned the original certificates issued to them,” a statement by NEC said. The returned certificates by the Born Again Christians were for both the May/June (school exam) and November/December (private candidate) West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). A breakdown of the year the examinations were taken revealed that the oldest dates back to June 1983 with certificate # SG 288999. The next is dated June 1990 (RS0680084c), June 1992 (NGSS 0994156), June 1995 (NGSS0265147) and December 1995 (NGSP 0169397), December 1996 (NGSP 0575264), December 2000 (NGWASSCP 038771), June 2001 (NGWASSCS 2451037). Others are June 2002, two certificates with NGWASSCP 4100224 and NGWASSCS 3894794 were returned and cancelled, June 2003 (NGWASSCS 5009313), June 2006 two born again Christian returned certificates with NGWASSCP 7747466 and NGWASSCS 8423755, December 2008 (NGWASSCP 05790031) and June 2010 NGWASSCP 13327157. There are several Verses in the Bible to support restitution, which conform to what the 15 Born Again Christians did by confessing their sins and sought restitution from WAEC. In 1 John 1:9 says: “If we confess our sins, this is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness”. While Numbers 5:6-7 says: “When a man or woman commits any of the sins that people commit by breaking faith with the Lord, and that person realizes his guilt, he shall confess his sin that he has committed. And he shall make full restitution for his wrong”. The names and other details of the 15 confessed persons may not be disclosed, as WAEC officials said it would amount to violation of the rights of the individuals involved and that of commission’s ethics.
